Raw vs Washed Denim

Raw (dry) denim leaves the mill unwashed: stiff, deep in color, and it fades to personal wear patterns over months as you wear it. Washed denim is laundered (and often distressed) before sale, so it arrives soft, broken-in, and pre-faded. Raw denim rewards patience with unique fades and often better long-term value, but demands care — infrequent washing, sizing for shrink. Washed denim is convenient and consistent, with the fades decided for you. Neither is superior; it is a commitment choice. The cost-per-wear case favors raw only if you actually keep and wear it for years.
