STAPLECUT

Flat Front vs Pleated

Flat-front trousers have no folds at the waistband; pleated trousers add one or two folds (forward or reverse) for extra room through the seat and thigh. Flat front reads slimmer and more modern; pleats add sitting comfort and movement room and suit fuller thighs or a roomier cut. Neither is correct in the abstract — it is a fit-and-style match. The old "pleats are dated" line is a trend opinion, not a durability fact. What matters for value is that the front style suits your build and the intended cut; both can be well or badly made.
