Which boots can be resoled?

Stitched constructions can; glued ones usually cannot. Goodyear-welted and Blake-stitched boots are built to have their outsoles replaced — the welt or internal stitch lets a cobbler swap soles without destroying the upper (Blake needs a cobbler with the right machine). Cemented (glued) shoes are generally done when the sole wears through, because resoling them is impractical or uneconomical. That is fine for sneakers and cheap shoes priced accordingly, but it undercuts any "buy it for life" pitch. Before paying welted-boot money, confirm the construction and a resole path; the low cost per wear only materializes if the boots actually get resoled.
